Tweed Airport Expansion
East Haven is a town of working families. We value safe neighborhoods, affordable living, and a strong community. The proposed expansion of Tweed Airport threatens all three. As mayor, my first duty will be to protect residents from decisions that harm our health, raise our taxes, and diminish our quality of life.

Introduction
The Problem
The expansion of Tweed Airport is being pushed through by political insiders with little regard for East Haven residents. While the City of New Haven and Goldman Sachs stand to benefit, East Haven is left to deal with all of the burdens:
Noise pollution: Families living near the airport will face constant aircraft noise, as well as residents in Foxon that live miles away. This affects all of East Haven.
Air pollution: Studies show airport emissions increase risks of asthma, cancer, and heart disease.
Traffic & congestion: Hundreds of thousands of additional cars will funnel through East Haven roads putting the safety of our neighborhoods at risk.
Financial risk: The long-term lease gives away control, while costs for more firefighters, police, and infrastructure will fall on East Haven taxpayers.

My Position
I oppose the Tweed expansion and relocation. East Haven residents should not be treated ascollateral damage for New Haven and Goldman Sachs to profit.
My Plan
1. Fight for Local Control: Go on the offensive. Fight for East Haven’s ability to control land use decisions and protect its residents.
2. Protect Our Neighborhoods: Enact zoning and environmental ordinances to limit emissions, noise, and health hazards.
3. Shield Taxpayers: Prevent East Haven from being saddled with unfair costs for services like fire and police without direct reimbursement from the airport authority.
4. Transparency & Legal Action: Hold a town wide meeting to inform residents of the issue and how it will affect the Town. I will work with our attorneys to better strategize our efforts and take any legal action necessary to defend East Haven’s rights.

Closing
This fight is about basic American principles; the ability to defend the health, safety, and enjoyment of property for our residents. East Haven families should not be forced to sacrifice their health, safety, and financial stability so that outsiders can profit. As mayor, I will always put East Haven residents first.
