Town Services

Saving Residents Money by Doing Things Smarter

Introduction

East Haven families already juggle enough; from paying bills to raising kids. Local government should make life easier, not harder. When the Town takes responsibility for certain services, costs are spread fairly across all taxpayers, saving families time and money.

The Problem

More taxes, less services. Recently, residents have been asked to shoulder more costs on their own. Recently, Town-managed service of weekly Bulk Trash Pickup was taken away. Instead of pooling resources to keep costs low, residents are forced to pay higher rates individually and that’s if they have the resources like a truck to haul the items to the Town Dump. That’s inefficient and the transition was poorly communicated to residents.

My Position

I believe the Town should provide core services directly, so families aren’t left scrambling to pay more on their own. By pooling resources, we can deliver better services at lower costs for everyone.

MY PLAN

1. Restore Bulky Waste Services: Bring back affordable, Town-managed bulky waste pickup, so residents don’t have to hire expensive private haulers just to throw out a couch or mattress.

2. Smart Cost-Sharing: Explore options for Town-negotiated contracts to pool resources to reduce individual expenses for residents.

3. Protect Seniors & Working Families: Ensure programs for seniors, youth, and families are preserved and strengthened, because these services are often too costly for individuals to cover alone.

Conclusion

When we work together as a community, we can save money and improve quality of life. As mayor, I’ll restore the balance by making Town Hall work for residents again; delivering services efficiently, fairly, and at lower costs than families could ever get on their own.
