Community & Quality of Life

Preserving East Haven’s Character and Investing in Our People

Introduction

East Haven is a community built on neighbors helping neighbors, families raising their kids here, and generations who continue to call it home. Protecting our quality of life means defending what makes East Haven special while also investing in the services, programs, and spaces that keep families strong.

The Problem

Our quality of life is under pressure and has been in decline year after year:

  • Neighborhood disruption: Projects like the Tweed expansion threaten to drown out our small-town character with noise, pollution, and traffic.

  • Underinvestment in community spaces: Parks, fields, and the Community Center

should be hubs of community life, but too often they’re neglected or taken away.

  • Loss of small-town vision: Town Hall leadership lacks a long-term plan to preserve East Haven’s character, leaving our future shaped by outsiders instead of by us.

My Position

I believe East Haven must protect its neighborhoods and shoreline, while investing in families, seniors, and community life. A strong town doesn’t sacrifice its character for short-term deals, it builds a future where every resident can enjoy a safe, welcoming, and family-friendly community.

MY PLAN

1. Defend Neighborhoods: Use zoning and local ordinances to protect residential area from outside projects that bring noise, traffic, or pollution.

2. Stronger Community Spaces: Revitalize parks, ballfields, and Community Center.

3. Support for Families & Seniors: Expand programs for seniors, youth, and working families, ensuring they’re consistent, affordable, and accessible.

4. Celebrate East Haven’s Identity: Invest in local history, shoreline access, and neighborhood pride; making East Haven a place future generations want to stay.

5. Long-Term Vision: Create a 20–50 year community plan to balance growth with quality of life, so we know what we want East Haven to look like decades from now.

Conclusion

East Haven must never lose its identity as a family-first, community-focused town. As mayor, I’ll fight to preserve what makes our neighborhoods special while investing in the people and places that make East Haven home.
